Welcome to Tenerife

Tenerife is a fertile jewel of the Canaries, dominated by the imposing volcano, the Pico del Teide, more than 3,700 metres high, which is an important tourist attraction. It is the largest island of the Canaries and offers, next to its famous beaches, remarkable features.

One example is the rugged natural park of las Canadas, an extensive area around the Pico del Teide, bringing to mind a lunar landscape. The northern part of Tenerife is characterized by fertile, green valleys, like the Orotavo valley with its banana plantations.

The most important beach resort on the north eastern coast, is the main capital of Puerto de la Cruz. Most tourists however, prefer to stay in the south western part of the island, where the villa Estrella del Mar is situated. The south is popular because of the subtropical climate. You can find well-known holiday resorts like Los Cristianos and Playas de las Americas here, busy and turistic. In the south of Tenerife a visit to to the Atlantic gardens and the shepherd's village of Masca are some of the most popular excursions.

The weather
Tenerife has all year round pleasant temperatures with very little rain. Because of the continuous north eastern passagewinds Alisio and the Gulf stream. In the north average rainfall is slightly higher than in the south.
Average temperatures Jul-Aug-Sep 24 degrees, watertemperature 22 degrees,
Average temperatures Jan-Feb-Mar 19 degrees, watertemperature 19 degrees.
